Google Buys LeapDroid

leapdroidLeapDroid is a decent Android emulator. Google just bought them. Seems like a small news item, since LeapDroid only started in 2015, but the implications are big.

The official announcement is on the LeapDroid home page…

LeapDroid is fast, so that can help developers and testers on non-native environments. It could give Chrome OS devices a boost. Most likely its the latest sign that Google plans  to merge Chrome OS and Android at some point.

Its with help from apps like LeapDroid that users can actually run Android games and Android apps on Google Chromebooks. See where this is going?

Let’s all follow the story. One rumor is that the LeapDroid team will discontinue development on LeapDroid entirely and join other, larger Google dev projects.
