We had a perfect day last week for our annual summer party with co-workers, family, and friends! This year we ventured down to the South Street Seaport where we boarded a Circle Line Cruise for a trip out to The Statue of Liberty which we followed with a trip to Fresh Salt for drinks and snacks.
If you’ve never taken a Circle Line Cruise (or haven’t in awhile), it was really educational and fun. Our guide, Andy, shared information about lower Manhattan, New Jersey, Ellis Island, and Lady Liberty for practically the entire time we were on board. Did you know that Trinity Church on Wall Street was the tallest structure in the United States until it was surpassed by the Brooklyn Bridge’s Tower? Did you know that it took over 15 years to get Emma Lazurus’ poem “The New Colossus” added to the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty? True facts!
Once we were safely back on land, it was fun catching up with everyone and hearing about new projects and extra curricular activities. Thanks to all who were able to attend, and I can’t wait until we have a chance to all get together again!
