A little over a month ago, Microsoft acquired GitHub – the go-to versioning platform for many in the open source community. We shared a few of our thoughts about this news when it happened, but we’re really interested to hear if other folks think this may change their approach to using GitHub.

Using Amazon S3 is an awesome way to host static websites because it is cheap, serverless and does not require any ongoing maintenance. It can also be used as a source for an Amazon CloudFront distribution which immediately places your static website on a CDN. There is one problem though and that’s maintaining the website’s content.
Following a very brief period of speculation, Microsoft, the ubiquitous tech behemoth that needs no introduction, has purchased the developer community’s darling code sharing
service, GitHub. Founded in 2008, GitHub quickly rose to prominence among developers and in three short years as a startup received $100M in Series A capital from Andreessen Horowitz.
Mac users now have an easier means to manage their Dropbox files right on their desktop. As a free offering from the App Store, Revisions for Dropbox leverages Dropbox’s existing (browser based) file-history features and serves them up in a much more user friendly interface. After installation the app can be accessed right from the menu bar. A few simple steps will link it to an existing Dropbox account and off you go.
