Adobe Software announced today that they are buying Magento. Just like Day Software’s CQ a few years ago, this is another good package we like, have experience with, integrate with, frequently recommend to our customers and now it is also part of the growing Adobe portfolio. I think Adobe is reading our mail.
Excerpts from Jay Dettling’s message to Adobe partners:
I’m reaching out to share news that we announced earlier today: Adobe has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Magento Commerce, a market-leading platform for open commerce innovation. Having personally driven commerce solutions for 15 years prior to joining Adobe, I couldn’t be more excited about what this means for Adobe customers and our partners.
The Magento Platform brings together digital commerce, order management and predictive intelligence into a unified commerce platform enabling both B2B and B2C shopping experiences across a wide array of industries. Recognized as a Digital Commerce leader in Gartner’s 2017 Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce, the Magento Platform will expand Adobe’s capabilities further, enabling real-time experiences across the entire customer journey.
While integrating the Magento Commerce Cloud into the Experience Cloud will provide Adobe with our own native commerce capabilities, we remain committed to the Adobe Commerce Program and its partners. We will continue to support and provide the open source commerce platform to our customers and are thrilled to welcome Magento technology partners — as well as Magento SIs and agencies — into the Adobe Partner community. Some of you are already part of Magento’s robust partner ecosystem. For all of our Partners, this acquisition will bring greater opportunity to grow your Adobe Experience Cloud practice across all customer touchpoints, delivering Adobe’s full value proposition plus your trusted advisor expertise to our joint customers. In addition to welcoming new partners to Adobe, we look forward to embracing opportunities with new customer brands that Magento will bring to Adobe.
…. Once the deal closes, expected in Adobe’s third quarter of fiscal 2018, there will be more details to share around integration and offerings. Thank you for your continued partnership with Adobe. We have so much fun and exciting work ahead of us. Together we win!
